DESCRIPTION:
E. Taber, Roxbury style tavern clock in a mahogany case with carved accents below the dial, with a later time only weight movement, c.1810
CONDITION:
euphoria over the great look on this clock is compromised when you remove the dial to reveal that the movement has been changed to a slightly later one. You can see that it was originally a striker, a circular pattern and scars from the original bell, and the case back to the right of that has been cut out for a hammer. There are some veneer chips in the bezel above 12. The dial has been repainted. Would be closer to $8000 if the movement was original. Ht 36"
